_Acute inflammation of the thymus_ as well as hemorrhages within it have been observed. It may also be the site of cystic tumors, perhaps of hemorrhagic origin. Suppuration in these cases is possible. In brief, the thymus, when acutely inflamed and suppurating, may be excised, when the tumor may be removed; but when simply somewhat involved, as in the status lymphaticus, it is best let alone, except in the presence of urgent indications to the contrary.
